- In Search Of A Catchy Chorus -music & lyrics : Ferdy Doernberg
Well, it all began in the singer´s mom´s garage - the birthplace of a rock´n roll dream they couldn´t play a all but did that louder than hell and in their own eyes they were already cream the guitars out of tune – the drums out of time - the lyrics sucked badly indeed - the police came a few times because it was way too loud and they were anxciously hiding their weed
- the very first show was a mess and so was the second and the third one and they fired the bassplayer and the drummer, too - the new guys played better – took the whole thing more serious and also didn´t look like me and you - they played a few local shows and became the kings of the highschool and the first groupies were standing in line - the music got better and so did the lyrics and all in all you can say they were doin´ fine
... and C - C leads to a D - and D leads back to G - and G leads to an E ( minor ! ) and C - C leads back to D - and now take me back to the verse
And then they got the first gigs in the big city ´s clubs and the critics thought they were refreshing and cool and then the A & R-guys came to see them and started to talk and they were young and they didn´t have a clue - so they signed everything and were sent to a studio to record the first album real quick - the producer was a legend and they were impressed so they didn´t realize that he was a dick
- he was all coked-up and didn´t have it together so the whole thing ended sooner than it had begun - the record company refused to release it and dropped them so it only came out in Japan................... Well, sometimes the music business walks in mysterious ways - an underground DJ liked it a lot and he played it over and over and over again and suddenly they were hot
... and C - C leads to a D ............
- this time they shot a video and it got on heavy rotation and suddenly the album was gold and a few months later they were out there on the road and a million albums got sold -and then the friendly stranger appeared and said : “the first one´s for free !" - and that was the beginning of the end - well, the second album was better musically but didn´t sell that good and the A & R–guy was looking for a new band.
and C - C leads to a D ......
The guitarplayer died a few years later on overdose and the bass-kid went back home to his mom - the singer turned into folk-music and is still somewhere on tour and the drummer´s still banging the drum in the sanatorium´s houseband where he was brought after he had tried to find out how high he was able to fly and the keyboardplayer´s the only one who got out of it all but his life is just a bubble of a lie. He ´s the manager of a TV-casting show now. He´s getting richer and richer every day - but sometimes late at night he wakes up and goes to his grand piano and then he sits down and starts to just play... and C - C leads to a D.....
...in search of a catchy chorus.... and now that´s the story´s end - until - maybe - it´s time for the great reunion !
